“Life is like a new picnic basket. You don’t know what is in it, and you are excited to find out.”
Welcome to the second half of 2018, celebrating this great nation’s independence is something special indeed. Fireworks, music, family, fun, and a day off from work-not unlike how we begin the first six months of the year. In fact, if 2018 has been a great year, keep it going; if you are not where you wanted to be, then it’s a great chance to re-set and make the next six months count. Successful people and successful organizations set goals, evaluate performance and make adjustments regularly, and almost all of them do it more often than every six months.
It has been a while since I reminded all of you to “know what you own, and why you own it.” It is why we constantly review what is going on with the investments in your accounts. It is also why we have reviews on the phone and in person with you; to review what is working, what is not, why, and what we think should be done. I talk about working with our clients to Define, Build, and Preserve a Legacy. If we don’t Define it is hard to measure where we are at in the Build and Preserve areas. If we can’t measure or evaluate then it is hard to determine if things are going the right way. And if we can’t determine things are going the right way, then we have nothing to celebrate. Which means no fireworks, and who wants a world without fireworks?
Enjoy the 4th, I hope you have an opportunity to celebrate with those who matter. After all, that is what drives us toward our Legacy.
