“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life” – Omar Khayyam
Indy class race cars go really fast! Normally a May does not pass without me making some analogy about racing and investing, but this year it did. Likewise, for many years I have attended the Indy race down the road at Texas Motor Speedway, I missed that one this year as well. I tell you this because, yes, life goes fast – kind of like an Indy car. I know this is not new, we all wish for more hours in at least some days, or more days in some weeks (especially those with vacations.) We can prioritize what is important, organize, plan, and implement; then understand that “life happens” enjoy the ride and your passions.
I attended an event this past week, and over time I will begin sharing the concept as I sit down with clients both new and old. The idea is simply “Retire on Purpose” and for most of us it is not that simple nor are we that organized and prepared. Money is only part of what you need for “Retirement” or whatever the next phase of life becomes for you. Being involved in something, having a passion, be it cooking, service to others, sailing the world, and more all take a commitment. They also give you a reason to get up each day and attack it, so enjoy your new freedom having attained this point in life. Having a purpose is what we humans are about. Funding that purpose driven life is important and done properly becomes a milepost along the track as you race forward with your purpose.
Feel free to share with family, friends, and let us know - what is your purpose.
